Ellen M. (Kolenich) Martin, age 63, of Mansfield, formerly of Bellaire, Ohio passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her adoring family on Saturday, March 21, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Glenn Jordan who died in 1979.
Born in Bellaire, Ohio on March 1, 1952, she was a loving daughter of the late Louis Kolenich, Sr. and Goldie (Piatt) Gallagher, and was the stepdaughter of the late Anna Mae Kolenich.
Ellen grew up and was educated in Bellaire, and later received her certificate as a nursing assistant.
A resident of Mansfield 15 years, She had worked as a cashier at Shaw’s Supermarket in Mansfield for the past 10 years. While living in Bellaire, she had been employed as a cook at the Roosevelt Restaurant, and always served as a dedicated homemaker to her loving family.
Ellen’s favorite times spent were those with family, especially in the presence of her cherished grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling with friends and was known by all who knew and loved her as “Memaw”
She is survived by her devoted daughters Lisa M. James and her husband Samual of Barnesville, Ohio, Teresa E. Jordan and her partner John Hocker of Bellaire, Ohio, Sandra K. Witman and her husband Paul of Bridgewater and Glenda G. Smith and her husband Scott of Mansfield. She was the doting grandmother of Joshua, Amanda, Alyson, Dustin, John John, Cameron, Taylor, Chloe and Tommy. She was the dear sister of Rhonda Cagle of North Carolina, Scott Gallagher of West Virginia, Louis Kolenich, Jr. of Ohio, Rosie Alloway of Pennsylvania, Nancy Kees of Ohio, Bernice Barnes of Ohio, the late Mary Lu Vinskovich, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, March 28th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Services and burial will be held at a later date in Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, Ellen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency Inc., Hospice, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
