Sylvia Langham McCullar Obituary - Water Valley MS

Sylvia Quay Langham McCullar, age 83, died Monday, March 16, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born January 10, 1932 in Coffeeville, MS to the late Thomas and Cora Pendergrass Langham; the baby of thirteen children. She retired as a Machinist with TORO Manufacturing Company in Oxford, MS and was a member of Elam Baptist Church of Coffeeville, MS. Sylvia was the matriarch of her family and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She was blessed in that she was able to take care of her family, herself and her home for as long as she lived; for her greatest prayer was that she would never be a burden to others.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Camp Ground Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS with Bro. David Ross officiating. Bill Vandergriff, Frank Cadena, Calvin Phillips, Mike Scroggins, Eddie Rogers and Joe Hampton will serve as pallbearers.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Vandergriff (Bill) of Carlsbad, NM, Gail Fly, and Patricia Sims, both of Water Valley, MS, and Dianne Cadena (Frank) of Batesville, MS;
seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley McCullar; her sons, Billy Dean McCullar and Bobby Gene McCullar; and her twelve older siblings.
