Obituary

HOLDEN-James Thomas Cutroni, 71, of Holden, passed away Thursday, March 12 at UMASS Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara L. (Gunnard) Cutroni, his son, James S. Cutroni of Holden, daughter, Diane Mohieldin-Schwartz and her husband David Schwartz of Worcester and two beautiful grandsons, Adam and Amir Mohieldin. He also leaves a brother Richard Cutroni and his wife Marian of Spencer, two sisters, Cecelia Lane and her husband Robert of Holden and Dolores Simoncini and her husband Ronald of Florida, many nephews and nieces, his best friend Bobby Clark, and his faithful companion, his black lab, Jessie.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Salvatore J. and Grace G. (Sullivan) Cutroni and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. Jim owned and operated Acme Plastic Machinery for many years and worked there since he was a teenager. He was a member of St. John’s Church. Jim liked to stay active and was a longtime member of the YMCA, where he regularly competed in racquetball tournaments, frequently beating competitors half his age. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and water skiing, and he also liked watching horse racing and boxing and playing cards with friends and family.

The family would like to thank Dr.Vijay Kasturi who formed a special bond with Jim and his family over the years, and also thank the nurses of the UMass 6th Floor ICU for their kindness and care over the past 2 weeks.

Jim’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 16 from CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Entombment in St. John’s Mausoleum will follow. Visiting hours are Sunday, March 15 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
