FITZSIMMONS, Rita M. age 90, of Roslindale, died peacefully at home in the care of her family. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Fitzsimmons. Loving mother of JoAnne & husband John Shields of Norwood, Kathleen & the late Alfred Duemling of Salem, Mary Jane Brady of Dedham, & the late Thomas J. Brady. She is survived by five grandchildren, & numerous great, & great-great grandchildren. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Thursday, March 12th at 8:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Most Precious Blood Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hour Thursday from 8:30-9:30am. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Mass. National Cemetery, Friday, March 13th at 2:00pm. Rita was very active in the community, both as a member & officer in a number of groups, including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Go Go Seniors & the Hi Parkers, leaving many friends who were precious to her. She was a long-time volunteer at the VA Hospital, Jamaica Plain, where she leaves her cherished second family. Family, friends, God & Country were most important to her, & she contributed her boundless energy to all of them. She also contributed to the economy of Atlantic City & Foxwoods.
