Obituary

AUBURN - Barbara A. (Boyle) Doe, 80, of Auburn, loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015, at home with her family by her side. Her beloved husband of 51 years, Ralph E. Doe, predeceased her on February 28, 2007.


Barbara is survived by her three children; Ralph W. Doe and his wife Karen of Charlton, Cynthia L. Flynn and her husband James of Millbury, and Mary E. Landi and her husband Paul of W. Townsend; and a brother Daniel Boyle of Auburn. She also leaves six grandchildren; Christina Gianakos and her husband Ben, Carolyn Surawski and her husband Adam, Brian Flynn and his wife Jamie, Jessica Demeo and her husband Ben, James Landi, and Kimberly Landi; four great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kendall Gianakos and Brynn and Molly Demeo; and many nephews and nieces. Barbara was predeceased by her son William R. Doe; four sisters, Margaret LaSalle, Mary Joyce, Dorothea Carlson and Alice Biando; and a brother Charles Boyle, Jr.


She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles J. and Margaret G. (Welch) Boyle and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Barbara worked as a switchboard operator at Fallon Clinic for many years before retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. John’s Church and a longtime and active supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Prior to Ralph’s death in 2007, she and Ralph always enjoyed their little getaways, especially to Maine.


Barbara’s Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 No. Main Street, Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760. The family would also like to thank Worcester Elder Services and Central Mass Hospice for their services and the care and compassion they showed to Barbara.
