WORCESTER-Peter M. O'Rourke, 48, passed away Tuesday, February 24 in UMASS Medical Center from complications suffered in an automobile accident in January.
He leaves his wife of eight years, Mary S. (Saunders) O’Rourke; two daughters, Rachel L. O'Rourke of Leicester and Erica L. O’Rourke of Leicester and her fiance Sean Jyringi; his parents, Peter and Mary E. (Young) O’Rourke of Worcester; a sister, Patricia Kane and her husband John of Shrewsbury; three nieces, Erin Linton and her husband Jonathan of Chicago, IL. and Kathryn and Maggie Kane both of Shrewsbury. He also leaves Aunts and Uncles; John and Maureen O'Rourke, Robert and Joanne O'Rourke, Mary E. Dudley, Robert and Judith Young, Edward and Sandra Young, Margaret and Gordon Berryman, Kathleen and Lawrence Gero, Joseph Young, and CarolAnn Foley, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Helen O'Rourke, and Rudolph and Catherine Young.
He was born in Worcester, graduated from South High Community School and was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Peter was a Correction Officer for the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department for 28 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council# 88.
Peter’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 2 from CALLAHAN~FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Sunday, March 1 from 2-5 PM in the funeral home.
