Obituary

OXFORD-Shirley R. (LaJeunesse) Fournier, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10th at The Overlook Healthcare Center in Charlton.

Her husband of 36 years, Alfred Fournier passed away in 1978. Shirley leaves seven children, Donna Cass and her husband Rick of North Port, FL, Paula Brissette and her husband Tony of Shrewsbury, Linda Bilodeau of Boylston, Alfred “Buddy” Fournier, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Charlton, Stephen Fournier and his wife Terry of North Port, FL and Roger Fournier and his wife Marylou of North Port, FL and Paul Fournier and his wife Heather of Spencer; 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and counting and one great great granddaughter. She also leaves her brother, William LaJeunesse of Marlboro and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Oscar “Babe”, Norman and Paul LaJeunesse.

Shirley was born in Billerica the daughter of Oscar and Eva (LeLacheur) LaJeunesse. She graduated from North High School in Worcester. She was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Church in Oxford where she served as a lector. Shirley enjoyed bird watching, baking, crocheting, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid bowler with her brother Babe well in to her 80’s. She loved watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. Shirley loved getting together with her large family as often as she could, whether it be in Florida or in Massachusetts. She was affectionately known as a hockey grandmother and would not miss any of her grandsons’ games. Above all, Shirley was a kind, caring and loving Mother who will be greatly missed.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at the Overlook Masonic Healthcare Center for everything they did for Shirley during her stay there.

Shirley’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Church, 654 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow in St. Roch’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann’s Outdoor Chapel, c/o St. Ann’s Church, P.O. Box 488, N. Oxford, MA 01537.
