Obituary

In Providence, RI. February 5, 2015 Edward Murphy Sr., Age 84, passed away in Rhode Island Hospital, following a lengthy period of failing health. Edward leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Janice (Quilty) Murphy of Raynham. Edward was born in Boston, the son of the late Edward V. and Margaret (Besse) Murphy. He had resided in Raynham, where he raised his six children, Michael and his wife Debi of Middletown, RI, Brian and his wife Annmarie of Taunton, Cathleen Catalano of Norton, Caren Fraizer of Middleboro, Edward “E.J. Jr. of Raynham and Paul and his wife Lorraine of Taunton. He also leaves his loving 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Edward served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He had a passion for fishing and loved sports especially the Red Sox and Patriots. Ed also loved coaching where he coached in both the Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball in Raynham. Edward was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Raynham and a member of the bowling league. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the St. Ann’s Food Basket, St. Ann’s Church, 600 North Main St. Raynham, MA 02767. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
