Mrs. Ellen Geralda Gunter, age 89, of Smyrna passed from this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 30th at Connection Point Church of God. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
A native of Fitzgerald, GA, Mrs. Gunter had lived in the Doraville area for the past 56 years. She was a charter member of the Doraville Church of God. She attended Bible Training School (now Lee University) and retired as a Legal Secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Daniel Gunter, parents, Joseph and Maggie Cooper, a daughter, Karen Ellen Gunter and a sister, Mary Jo Cooper Rozier.
She is survived by a son, Bishop Daniel Keith (Brenda W.) Gunter, Powder Springs, GA; sister, Daphyne Cooper, Jacksonville, FL; 2 grandchildren, Karen Melissa (Lance) Hollingsworth, Baton Rouge, LA and Kevin Michael (Charlinda) Gunter, El Dorado, CA; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas Blake Hollingsworth and Logan Daniel Hollingsworth, Baton Rouge, LA, and Sophie Rebecca Gunter and William Charles Gunter, El Dorado, CA; and one nephew Kenneth R. (Cathy) Rozier III, Jacksonville, FL. She was always active in her local church as teacher, choir member, and event planner.
The family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm Thursday at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
