Obituary

Robert Eugene Deese, age 67, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Tift Regional Medical Center, in Tifton.

The funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Arbor Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday, January 26, 2015 from 6-8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Deese was born in Fitzgerald on February 28, 1947, to the late Frank and Juanita Sherrill Deese. Robert was the produce manager for Piggly Wiggly for over twenty years; he also worked for Harvey’s in Ocilla, the Colonial Store and for a short time Winn Dixie. He was also the owner and operator of the County Line Bait, Tackle and Produce until his health started to decline. Mr. Deese served his country honorably in the United States Army and served during war time in the Vietnam War; he was a member of the American Legion and a life long member of Arbor Baptist Church where he was very active in the music, where he loved to sing in the choir and was a part of a quartet consisting of Pam Gay, James Sewell, Merlin Miles and himself. Mr. Deese attended South Georgia College and ABAC.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Mary Owens Deese of Fitzgerald; his children, Mary Lynn Dalton and husband Micheal of Abbeville, Melissa Beth Wilder and Marcy Jean Deese and fiancé Alan Dean, all of Fitzgerald; someone Robert considered a son, Charles Eric Boggus of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Boggus, Kelsie Dalton, Kasee Boggus, Kory Boggus and Kyler Boggus and one great-grandchild, Will Leonard; one brother, Donnie Frank Deese of Fitzgerald.
