Charles E. Boynton, Jr., age 90

Dateline: Huntsville, Alabama

Charles E. Boynton, Jr., age 90, of Huntsville, formerly Manchester, NH and Mansfield passed away at home on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
Born in Mansfield, MA on January 7, 1925, he was a loving son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Thelma O. (Knowles) Boynton.
Charles grew up and was educated in Mansfield. During WWII, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private on December 8, 1945.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Boynton was employed as a rigger in the heavy equipment industry.
He was a member of the both the VFW and American Legion in Manchester and Mansfield. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and just simply piddling around.
He is survived by his devoted children: Richard Boynton and his wife Lynn of Texas, Joan Jones of Alabama and Charles Boynton, III and his wife Nancy of Utah. He was the dear brother of Josephine Gougeon of Vermont, Marie West of South Yarmouth, Helen Heffernan of Attleboro, Alice Proulx of Norton and the late Walter Boynton, Lillian Demers, Mildred Corey, Esther Boynton, Doris Lesperance, Daniel Boynton, Benjamin Boynton, Barbara Jones and Irving Boynton. He is also survived by his cherished 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend services with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, January 30th at 1:00 P.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 29th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Mr. Boynton’s family requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140.
