Obituary


WEST BOYLSTON-Pauline L. (Sangster) Monroe, 89, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at home, with her family by her side. She leaves her beloved husband of 67 years, Albert A. Monroe; two sons, Paul A. Monroe, and his wife Cindy of Pocasset, MA and Richard C. Monroe of Pepperell, MA; her daughter Jane A. Giuffrida, and her husband Phil of Fallston, MD; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


She was born in Milford, NH, daughter of William R. and Lillian (Winters) Sangster and graduated from Clinton High School in 1943 and Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Monroe was a registered nurse for many years and worked most of her career at Clinton Hospital, until her retirement in 1987. She was a longtime and active member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston where she volunteered in the thrift shop and the prayer shawl group. She was a member of the Monday Night Crafters Club and the West Boylston Historical Society.


Mrs. Monroe’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 20th in the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street, W. Boylston. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 26 Central Street, West Boylston, 01583.
