Dorothy Jane Stokes, age 72, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born in Yalobusha County, MS on July 13, 1942 to the late James Earl and Willie Ethel Caldwell. Dorothy was a member of Everdale Missionary Baptist Church of Water Valley and enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS A repast will follow the service at Everdale Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley. Dorothy is survived by five daughters, Wanda Jean Stokes, Sandra King, Ethel Olivia Phillips all of Water Valley, MS, Stephanie Renee Stokes of Horn Lake, MS and Penelope Latrice Stokes of Franklin, TN; three sons, Larry Oneil (Melba) Stokes and Travis Lamont Stokes all of Water Valley, MS, and Bobby Stokes of Holly Springs, MS; sixteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives. | ||||
