Obituary

Richard J. Dunn, aged 53, of Plymouth, died January 13, 2015 after bravely battling cancer. He was the devoted husband of his late first wife, Janet A. (Skehan) Dunn, and to his second, surviving wife, Janet R. “Jae” (Cress) Dunn. He was a loving and devoted father to his son Brian, and daughter Kristin, both of Plymouth. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Pritchard) Dunn, of Malden, brothers Vincent Dunn of Bradenton, FL, Michael Dunn of Methuen, Stephen Dunn of Everett, William Dunn of Brockton, and sister Kathleen Dunn of Malden.
Rich grew up and went to school in Malden, and joined the Navy in 1979, where he served as a Seabee. After his military service he served as a Hampton Beach, NH, police officer, and later left the force to pursue a career in information technology. For the last 18 years he worked at Fidelity Investments in Boston, and traveled to support their international business units. Rich was a member of the John Alden Sportsman Club in Plymouth where he volunteered for many charity events, and he spent his summers on Priscilla Beach, riding his JetSki with his kids, nieces and nephews.
When Rich was diagnosed with cancer, friends asked him what was on his “bucket list”. He said that he had lived his bucket list already – he’d traveled all over the world, earned his scuba certification and had jumped from airplanes. What he wanted to do with the rest of his life was the thing he enjoyed most; spending time with friends and family, which is exactly what he did.
