Bennie Tramel Gossett, age 67, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at his home in Oxford, MS. He was born March 28, 1947 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Bennie Nolan and Wynona Tramel Gossett. Bennie enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduating high school serving as an aircraft engine repairman in Viet Nam. While enlisted he earned the National Defense Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal and the Viet Nam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and retired from AT&T where he worked as a construction manager for over forty years. Bennie enjoyed reading and writing short stories. He was a talented musician and could play most any instrument, and he loved to sing. Bennie dearly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Delay Baptist Church with Bro. Sammy Gossett officiating. Burial will be in the Delay Baptist Church Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS. Bennie is survived by his wife, Gara Lynette Hatcher Gossett of Oxford, MS; his daughter, Kerri Gossett Cobb of Oxford, MS; his sons, Chris (Jennifer) Gossett and Andy (Brandye) Gossett all of Oxford, MS; his brothers, Barry (Donna) Gossett of Oxford, MS and Eddie Gossett of Texas; and six grandchildren, Harley Anne Gossett, Macie Gossett, Lindley Gossett, Holdan Cobb, A.J. Gossett and Jaxson Cobb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Kornegay. | ||||
