WORCESTER: Ellen J. (Martone) Jordan, 89, a long time Worcester resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Tatnuck Park, after a brief illness. Her husband of 21 years, Carl D. Jordan, died April 19, 1972.
She leaves two daughters, Mary Ellen Jordan Burgess and her husband Neal L. of Holden, Cathleen A. Jordan of Quincy; two sons, Christopher C. Jordan of Worcester, Paul D. Jordan and his wife Kathleen of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Carl A. Zalauskas, Ruby E. Bobkowski, Alexander J. Burgess, Isabella J. Chiaravallotti and many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in South Barre, daughter of the late Donato and Mary E. (Hetherington) Martone. She graduated from Barre High School and Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee. She lived in Worcester since graduating from college.
Ellen was a social worker with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services for 35 years until she retired. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ellen's family would like to thank the staff at Tatnuck Park for their attentive service over these past four and a half years. The family would also like to thank the nurses, Jackie and Beth from Optum Palliative and Hospice Care and her personal caregivers in her final days, Annah, Evelyn, Jane and Mavis from Care with a Heart.
There are no calling hours. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A.M. on FRIDAY, JAN. 9 at ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CHURCH, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
The family suggests donations in memory of Ellen be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
