Edwin C. Crum, Jr., age 76,a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Gentili) Crum who died on November 10, 1998.
Born in Boston, MA on September 2, 1938, he was a loving son of the late Edwin C., Sr. and Ethel W. (Rhynard) Crum.
Ed was a graduate of Norton High School. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1957-1959, and later in life; attended Northeastern University.
Mr. Crum was a retired Inspector for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. He had also served as a former Call Firefighter for the Town of Norton.
Ed’s devoted family was the essence of his life. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. His other interests included traveling and listening to music.
He is survived by his loving children; Gregory C. Crum and his wife Aimee of Summerville, South Carolina, Michael P. Crum of Norton and Laura A. (Crum) Tine of Warwick, Rhode Island. He was the adoring grandfather of Garrett, Hunter, Kelsey and Maggie Crum. He is also survived by his dear mother in law Theresa Gentili of Mansfield, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140.
