Clifton Clyde Gaither, 88, of Mystic, died, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton.
The funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 22, 2014 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with the Rev. Derrell Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in the Mystic Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2014 until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaither was born on July 18, 1926 to the late Vera Arizona Abbott and William Ersie Gaither. He was a retired mechanic with Vickers Auto in Nashville, GA. He loved to talk on his CB radio and his handle was Popcorn. Mr. Gaither lived in Villa Rica, Nashville and Mystic. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mystic.
Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Mae Lavender Gaither of Mystic; three sons, Larry Gaither of Escondido, CA, Mike Gaither of Douglasville and Phillip Gaither of Florida; six step-sons, Robert Lavender and wife Dorothy of Tifton, Herman Lavender and wife Betty of Fitzgerald, Lee Lavender of Ocilla, Joe Lavender of Fitzgerald, Lewis Lavender and wife Cheryl of Herod, IL, James Lavender and wife Tina of Jacksonville, FL; one step-daughter, Barbara L. Starling and husband Dwight of Nashville; Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret G. Crews and husband Charles of Nashville, Pat G. Garner of Nashville and Hazel G. Dadson of Winnabow, NC; one brother, Charles Gaither of Nashville. His parents; and two stepsons, David Lavender and John K. Lavender proceeded in death.
