Mary Ellen (Gaughan) Stone, 90, a resident of North Andover, MA, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, MA.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Mary was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She retired as the Deputy Tax Collector for the town of North Andover after 22 years of service. Mary enjoyed bowling, golf, travel and spending time with family and friends and was always up for a party. She made the best sandwiches and every weekend her beloved grandchildren would come looking for lunch! Those were the times "Nana" loved best.
Mary was married 42 years to the late Clifton G. Stone, Jr., and is survived by her son Clifton G. Stone, III and his wife Beverly of North Andover; daughter Patricia Morrison of North Andover and son-in-law, the late John Morrison and daughter Barbara E. Stone of East Sandwich. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gillian, Alexandra and Louisa Morrison; Rebecca Stone; Bridget Alexander; Brendan and Jack Fitzgerald, great-grandsons Finn Martin and twins Daniel and Owen Eggertson as well as a sister Eileen Hannagan of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Sutton Hill Center and Life Choice Hospice for the loving kindness and compassionate care given to Mary each and every day.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
