Obituary

Shea, Jeremiah John Jr. 88, of Manomet formerly of West Medford, passed away at his home on November 5. Husband for 65 years of the late Olive L. (Calder) Shea. He leaves his daughters Ellen “Cookie” Gilchrist of Coventry, RI, his twin daughters Kathy Noone and Karen Price both of North Pembroke. He also leaves his grandchildren Brian Gilchrist, Seamus Noone and Katrina and Bridget Price, a sister Joan Scarpa of NV and several nieces and nephews. Jeremiah was predeceased by his son Kevin and his brothers Patrick, Timothy, Daniel, and his sisters Delia Sutcliffe, and Margaret Gardella.
Jerry was born in Somerville the son of Jeremiah and Margaret (Carr) Shea, he graduated from Somerville High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Fisher College. Jerry served as a Sergeant in the Army during WWII in the Mid Pacific Area. Jerry worked in the food industry most of his life. At the age of 14, he formed the first home delivery service at Finest Super Market in Winter Hill, Somerville. After he returned from the service, he worked as a sales driver for 7-UP Company. In 1950, he joined Nabisco and retired in 1991 as New England Sales Manager. He was past president and a coach of Hillside Little League, past president of St Raphael’s Holy Name Society, past president of the Yankee Peddlers in Boston and past president of the Bonnie Seniors in Manomet.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Road (Rte. 3A) Plymouth (Manomet) on Sunday November 9, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure Parish 803 State Road Manomet on Monday November 10, at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne.
