Armand Dumont, age 84, of Norton, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Jamaica Plain. He was the beloved husband of the late Diane E. (Greany) Dumont.
Born in Attleboro, MA on November 11, 1929, he was a loving son of the late Louis and Rose (Marien) Dumont. He grew up and was educated in Attleboro, and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
A resident of Norton for the past 47 years, Mr. Dumont was a retired mechanic, having worked for over 25 years at the former Attleboro Landfill. He had previously been employed for the former P & P Motors in Norton, which was owned by his friend Brad Pitman.
Armand was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was an active committee member for Norton’s Boy Scout Troop 61, part of the Annawon Council.
Mr. Dumont treasured the times spent with family and friends. His greatest passions in life included a continued love for learning, repairing automobiles, and always being there to lend others a helping hand.
He was the devoted father of David M. Dumont and his wife Andrea of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Dylan F. Dumont of Norton. He was the dear brother of Albert Dumont, Sr. and his wife Rita of Attleboro and the late Eva Barnes. He is also survived by his nephew Albert Dumont, Jr. and his wife Kimberly, and their children, as well as aunts and cousins.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday November 3rd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Military honors will follow. Burial will be held at a later date at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Armand’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
