Graveside services will be held 4:30 PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Ocilla City Cemetery in Ocilla, with Joey Veal delivering the eulogy. Her grandchildren will also speak.

Mrs. Sims was born April 12, 1928, in Omega, Georgia, to the late C.C. and Gladys Irene Taylor Dover. She attended Tifton Beauty School in the early 60’s and worked as a beautician for several years. She was a former bookkeeper for Hybernia’s in Ocilla and she worked for Ocilla Pharmacy. Mrs. Sims enjoyed rising early and shopping at yard sales with her sisters and friends. Her passion was decorating for the holidays. As long as her health permitted, she had a ministry of cooking and delivering vegetable soup to the homebound. Mrs. Sims was a dedicated member of Ocilla Baptist Church and was very active in her Sunday school class. A longtime member of the church’s Benevolence Committee, her Jell-O comforted many families who lost loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter and husband: Kim & David Bridges of Tifton; grandchildren and their spouses: Stuart Hayes Sims & Leila of Ocilla, Rees Whaley Bridges & Lindsay of Auburn, Alabama, Cliff Michael Sims & Sharon of Central Asia and Morgan Taylor Bridges of Americus; two great-grandchildren: Sims Anderson Bridges and Sylar Hayes Sims; sisters and their husbands: Elizabeth Harbuck of Macon, Ruby Wynell Hickey & Russell of Mystic, Jessie Dean Davis of Fitzgerald and Mattie Lou Wilson & Rev. Jerry of Irwinville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Walter Sims; a son: Keith Hayes Sims and a sister: Annie Lorene Dover.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to a local hospice.
