Dorothy N. (Anthony) Eldridge, age 94, of Norton, formerly of Falls Church, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the home of her granddaughter in Rehoboth.
Born in Westmorland, Virginia on April 18, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Blanch (Gowen) Anthony. She grew up and was educated in Virginia.
Prior to retiring, Dorothy had worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block in Virginia. She previously worked for many years in the banking industry in Washington, DC.
Dorothy had made her home in Norton for the past five years. While residing in Virginia she was a member of the United Baptist Church in Annandale.
Her favorite times spent were those amongst her adoring family. She enjoyed reading, gardening and discussing politics. She will always be remembered for her gracious southern charm, her strong independence, and her “sweet tooth” for chocolates.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Ann G. Lent and her husband Jim of Norton, Anita L. Landice and her husband Lee of Bend, Oregon and the late John T. Eldridge. She was the dear sister of the late Everett Anthony and Garnette Anthony. She is also survived by her cherished 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the great grandmother of the late Timothy Blanchard.
A private graveside funeral service will be held at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton with burial to follow. Visiting hours have been omitted.
