Donald H. Russell, age 52, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 20, 2014.
Born in Norwood, MA on March 27, 1962, he was the beloved and devoted son of Donald H. and Helen M. (Langill) Russell of Norton.
A 1980 graduate of Norton High School, he had been employed as a Warehouse Supervisor for nearly 30 years at Owens & Minor in Franklin.
Donny, along with his family was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Norton and was also a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing softball, and golfing for charitable events to help others. His favorite times spent were those amongst family and friends; which included playing cribbage with his father, relaxing at Alberto’s in Norton and being a longtime loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sisters and brother; Martha F. Jackson and her husband Michael of Texas, Patricia A. Cannata and her husband Brian of Attleboro, Gary M. Russell and his wife Heather of Norton, Michelle M. Russell of Norton, and the late Leonard “Fred” Russell. He was the cherished uncle of Erin, Brendan and Colleen Jackson, Ashley, Emily and Michael Cannata, and Nicole Rinaudo, Krystal, Corey and Jennifer Russell. He is also survived by his grand niece “Miss Lilly”, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his faithful companion “Trooper”.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday October 27th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Donny’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Kyle Bishop Memorial Fund, 361R Old Colony Road, Norton, MA 02766.
