Normand E. Bellavance, age 75, of Norfolk, formerly of Mansfield passed away on Saturday, October, 18, 2014 at the Harrington House in Walpole. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannine P. (Larence) Bellavance and the late Lise (Dupont) Bellavance.
Born in Mansfield, MA on October 31, 1938, he was a loving son of the late former Mansfield Fire Chief Cyril N. Bellavance and Germaine G. (Larence) Bellavance.
Norm grew up and was educated in Mansfield. He attended Boston Trade School and later returned to Mansfield High School; graduating with the Class Of 1970.
In 1968, Mr. Bellavance joined the Mansfield Fire Department. Throughout the many years of faithful service to the community, he rose to the rank Lieutenant and retired in 2000. He had also worked for 20 years at the former Hathaway & Patterson in Mansfield.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Norm was also a charter member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks.
Norm loved spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included making latch hook rugs, golfing, and being a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his devoted children; Michael W. Bellavance and his wife Robin of Norfolk, Kelly A. Bellavance-Fisher of Tennessee and the late Keith Bellavance. He was the dear brother of retired Mansfield Deputy Fire Chief Richard R. Bellavance of North Attleboro, Bernard W. Bellavance of Sandwich, Jeannine A. Caprarella of Mansfield, retired Mansfield Fire Chief Robert P. Bellavance of Mansfield, and Donald F. Bellavance of Norton. He is also survived by his cherished 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with firefighters honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours have been omitted and in lieu of flowers, Normand’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Mansfield Ambulance Trust Fund, 10 Plymouth St., Mansfield, MA 02048..
