Robert E. Boyle, Jr., age 78. Of Norton passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, following a long illness, at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Janet L. (Smith) Boyle to whom he was wed for the past 57 years.
Born in Boston, MA on August 22, 1936, he was a dear son of the late Robert E. Boyle, Sr. and Mabel (Harnden) Kieltyka. He grew up in Rehoboth and attended the Taunton Vocational School in Taunton.
A resident of Norton for the past 57 years, Mr. Boyle was a retired union truck driver and for 17 years had worked at Drake’s Bakery in Taunton prior to retiring in 1997. He had formerly been employed for 20 years at Arrow Transportation in Providence.
Bob loved spending time in the presence of his adoring family and along with his wife Janet, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Michael E. Boyle of Attleboro and Corinne E. Avizinis and her husband Robert of West Warwick, Rhode Island. He was the cherished grandfather of Robert A, Avizinis and Ryan E. Avizinis both of West Warwick. He was the dear brother of Benjamin Salley of Mansfield and Barbara Miller of Providence, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
His memorial service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on held on Tuesday, September 16th at 2:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be held at a later date at the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rehoboth.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Tuesday afternoon beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Boston University School of Medicine Amyloidosis Center, 72 East Concord St., K-503, Boston, MA 02118-2526.
