Obituary

Yvon Arthur Joseph Brunette passed into eternal life on September 4, 2014 after a period of declining health. Born in Manchester, NH to Romeo and Eulalie (Morin) Brunette on April 25, 1929, Yvon was educated in schools both in Manchester and in Berthierville, PQ. He served in the Korean conflict with the 5th Air Force, 934 Signal Battalion, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent.

Yvon follows his parents and brother Francis into the Heavenly Kingdom, and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty June (Brown) Brunette; sons Michael and his wife Therese, Mark, Gary and his wife Danielle; daughters Linda Pearl and her spouse Sherry Reasoner, Brenda; and his much loved grandchildren Christopher and his partner Kathleen, David, Stephen and his wife Allison, Nicole and her partner Alex and Gregory. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews both near and far. The family especially thanks niece Sylvette and her husband Paul for all they have done.

Honorably discharged, Yvon returned home from Korea and in 1959, after a brief time as a Manchester, NH Police Officer, he, his father Romeo, and brother Francis began a family business that would become Laundry Equipment Corp., which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2012. He is a respected trailblazer in his industry.

With the loving support of his wife June, Yvon was a major influence in the lives of the children of Saint Peter’s Orphanage in Manchester, Pine Haven Boys Center in Allenstown, and Copper Cannon Camp in Bethlehem. Yvon was also a long time member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving in many positions, retiring as the Operating Committee Chair of the L. L. Lee Scouting Museum. In 1991, Yvon was presented with the Silver Beaver Award for service to youth.

Yvon will always be remembered as a man dedicated to the welfare of those less fortunate than he, most especially the young. Yvon and June’s devotion to Saint Jerome Emiliano is illustrated by the verse from James 1:27

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in St. Raphael Parish, 103 Walker St., Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that donations be made in his memory to Pine Haven Boys Center, 133 River Rd., Allenstown, NH 03275 or Copper Cannon Camp, 231 Gale River Rd., Bethlehem, NH 03574.
