Obituary

Dorothy A. (Manchester) Lewis, 89, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Southpointe Rehabiliation & Skilled Care Center in Fall River. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul R. Lewis.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late George and Olive (Devoll) Manchester, she had resided in Westport for most of her life. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she worked as a hairdresser at Cherry and Webb and for Jim’s Hair Care, both in Fall River. She was a member of Pacific Union Congregational Church, Westport, and was well known for her Russian Meat Pies that she often made for the church. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking and reading, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Linda (Platt) Vautrin and her husband Norman; and Mark Platt and his fiancée Darlene Ferry. She also leaves her 5 precious grandchildren: William Medeiros, Jr. and his wife Deanna, Scott Medeiros and his wife Kerrie, Kelly Soares and her husband Richard, Jodi Vautrin and her husband Christopher Scott and Mark Alfonso; 3 great grandchildren: William K., Marissa and Alissa Medeiros; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Gail Medeiros and sister of the late Alice Stevenson, Mildred Baldwin, Arthur, Alfred, George, Milton, Kenneth, Carlton and Albert Manchester.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
In lieu of flowers, because Dorothy loved feeding people, memorial donations may be made to the Westport Food Pantry, 75 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790.
