Obituary

George F. DeRosa, a resident of East Falmouth for the last 2 years and former 8 year resident of South Yarmouth and longtime resident of Allston and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the McCarthy Care Center Hospice House in Sandwich following a lengthy illness. He was 83 years old.

George was born in Boston on August 15, 1930, a son of the late Joseph DeRosa and Mary L. (Jesson) DeRosa. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. George worked for over 20 years as a warehouseman for Dowd Paper Company in Woburn. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local # 379.

George is the beloved husband of 53 years to Maureen C. (Caples) DeRosa. He is the devoted father of George F. DeRosa Jr. and his wife Laura of East Falmouth, James J. DeRosa and his wife Joan of Hyannis, Mary C. Ferranti and her husband Joseph of Waltham, Thomas DeRosa and his wife Nancy of Brighton, Kevin DeRosa and his wife Christine of Centerville, Maureen "Reanie" DeRosa and her husband Neil Quinton of Brockton and the late Ralph A. DeRosa. He is the loving Papa to 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Thomas DeRosa and his late wife Hannah of Charlestown and the late John DeRosa. He is the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend George's Funeral on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
