William H. “Bill” Williamson, 87, of Warner Robins died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mr. Williamson was born June 17, 1926, in Ben Hill County, to the late Sam D. & Ola Hogan Williamson. He served his country honorably in the military. After a short stint in the Army, he joined the United States Navy and served nearly three decades including during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War retiring as a Master Chief. Mr. Williamson also operated his own home repair business, was a former surveyor with the United States Department of Agriculture and worked as a real estate agent in San Diego, California. He enjoyed spending time in Yuma, Arizona with the other “snowbirds” and loved traveling. He was of the Baptist faith and had attended Byron United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia Fellows “Pat” Williamson of Warner Robins; daughter: Patricia Ann Hill of San Diego, California; step-children: Janice Amonette of Pasadena, Texas, Kenneth Bontadelli of Oswego, New York and David Bontadelli of Willis, Texas; a daughter-in-law: Sue Williamson of Douglas; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings: S.D. & Gloria Williamson of Fitzgerald; Bobby & Carolyn Williamson of Crestview, Florida; Annie Ruth Ivey of Rebecca, Frances & Percy Herndon of Ailey, and Peggy & Richard Peavy of Chestnut Mountain as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Hugh Alan Williamson; a brother: John A. Williamson; and a sister: Mary Gaines.
