Dennis E. Dennehy, Jr., age 58, of Wrentham passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, in the comfort of his home on Monday, March 31, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Maynard) Dennehy to whom he was wed on May 28, 1983.
Born in Boston, MA on September 28, 1955, he was a loving son of the late Dennis E., Sr. and Mary A. (Leane) Dennehy.
Dennis grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Don Bosco High School. He furthered his education and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Boston with a degree in Management Information Systems.
Mr. Dennehy worked as a software engineer and for many years had been employed for Fidelity Investments at their Merrimack, NH and Boston offices.
Dennis had made his home in Wrentham for the past 20 years and loved spending time surrounded in the presence of family and friends.
His interests included traveling and music, but his true passion was the Boston Red Sox. He always remained a loyal fan and for the past 27 years was the proud holder of season tickets, and most recently Dennis was able to attend the teams spring training in Florida.
In addition to his beloved wife Pat, he is survived by his devoted children, Lauren E. Dennehy and Nathan E. Dennehy both of Wrentham. He was the dear brother of Maureen H. McCarrick and her husband James of Dorchester. He was the brother- in- law of Annemarie Morris and her husband Wayne of RI, Peter Gagnon of CA, and Robert Gagnon and his wife Joan of VT. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Ross Gagnon, Caitlin Gagnon, Michelle McCarrick, Claire Bratz, Christina McCarrick, Renee Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and the late Nicholaus Smith.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a service in celebration of his life on Saturday, April 5th at 4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held prior to the services on Saturday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Dennis’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Make -A- Wish Foundation of Massachusetts, One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
