Josephine (Spirito) Miele, Of Medford, died peacefully at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home. She was 96.

Born and raised in East Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Anna (LaRoca) Spirito. A resident of East Cambridge for many years, Josephine lived in Medford for over 40 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Fenton Shoes for many years, before her retirement. A loving wife and mother and grandmother, she enjoyed the company of her family and friends.


The beloved wife of John Miele, she was a devoted mother to Marianne Dugas of Medford and her late husband John, John S. Miele and his wife Doreen of Medford. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Philip and his wife Debby, Stephen and his wife Connie and Michael Dugas; John Miele and his wife Stacia, Rebecca Anoli and her husband Michael, Lara Miele and her partner Nicole Golenski. She is lovingly survived by seven great-grandchildren and three great- great grandsons. The dear sister of Michael Spirito and his wife Madeline of Medford, the late Sophia DeSimone, Regina DePasquale and Louis Spirito, she also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
