Obituary

Chester Philip White, 77, passed away on November 16, 2013 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Ann (Howard) White.
Born in Cambridge on October 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Prescott and Charlotte (Coffin) White. He was raised and educated in Somerville. He served our country with the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He and Pat raised their family in both Somerville and Woburn. Chet had resided in Peabody at Brooksby Village for the past 10 years, where he was active in table tennis and billiards. He liked to play cribbage, was an avid Boston Bruins fan, enjoyed travelling on cruise ships, vacationing with family and friends at his cottage in Barrington, N.H., as well as the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially attending their hockey games. For the past several years, he took pleasure in his summers spent on Long Lake in Naples, Maine with his companion Dianne Schueler. Chet also enjoyed Sunday morning coffee with his long-time friends Ernie and Linda Cormier.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy Petelle and her husband Rick of Pepperell, Wendy Zanni and her husband Steven of Reading, Kelley Lemos and her husband Jeffrey of Newburyport and Sherry Abreu of Gloucester. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David Doucet, Marissa LaCruz and her husband Daniel, Charlotte, Kimberly and Matthew Petelle, Shane and Dillan Zanni, Emily and Jeremy Abreu, as well as his great grandchildren, Aurora and Atticus LaCruz. He also leaves behind his sister Jean McCoy of Virginia, many nieces and nephews and Dianne Schueler, his long time companion and friend. He was predeceased by a beloved grandson Brian Doucet and by his siblings, Prescott White, Jr., Paul White, Doris Winship and Gordon White.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody. Reception will follow at Brooksby Village. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
