Obituary

Paul J. Marquis, 82, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2013 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marjorie (Perkins) Marquis with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.
Born in Swampscott on April 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Lumina (Ouellette) Marquis. He was raised and educated in Salem, where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Paul served our country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Paul had been employed as a supervisor for 35 years with AT & T. Paul was very active within his Danvers community, where he lived for 58 years. He had been a town meeting member, a member of the school committee and the democratic town committee. He also enjoyed music from the big band era, gardening and especially spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Marjorie, he is survived by his children, Wayne P. Marquis and his wife Nancy of Danvers, Debra L. Marquis of Boxford, Linda J. Marquis and her husband Tim Markham of Peabody and Scott A. Marquis of NH, his grandchildren, Jennifer A. Marquis of Cambridge, Kristen L. Martin and her husband Brian of Danvers, Kathryn E. Azevedo and her husband Edgar of Topsfield, Ashley R. Gioia and her husband Michael of Bradford, Janelle D. Sousa of Peabody, Danielle D. Sousa of Boxford and Scott A. Marquis, Jr. and his wife Taliah of VA, his great grandchildren, Jake and Brynn Martin, Noemia and Jackson Azevedo and Adam Gioia. He was predeceased by five siblings, Louise E. Marquis, Marie Baker, Patsy Savio, Saber Lynch and Edward Belanger. He leaves two siblings, Andy Belanger of NH and Marlene LeBouf of Peabody.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Paul’s name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA, 01701.
