Obituary

Florence (Michael) Moses of Roslindale, passed away on November 8, 2013 in her 100th year.

Florence moved from the South End of Boston to Roslindale after her marriage to her beloved husband Maurice. Maurice opened "Maurice's Barber Shop" at 16 Birch St. and eventually moved to a larger space on Corrinth St. occupied now by Sebastian's.

Florence stayed at home to raise her children Richard and Janice until they were in school full time. It was then she began her career in retail. Her first position was at "Park Snow" in Roslindale Square before she went to work in Boston for Jordan Marsh, finishing her retail career in "designer handbags." Florence retired at 80 years young when Jordan Marsh was purchased by Macy's.

Very independent, Florence remained in her home following her retirement. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting parties. She worked in her garden in the summer and shoveled snow for herself and her neighbors during the winter. A beloved mother, sister, aunt, neighbor and good friend, Florence always listened and dispersed her opinion with wisdom and patience. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Florence was the dear and devoted wife of the late Maurice J. Moses. Loving mother of Janice Palmer of San Francisco, CA and the late Richard Moses. Cherished grandmother, “Sito” of Dale G. Palmer, Lisa K. Ballerini and Nicole VanHorn and great grandmother of Isabella and Caterina Ballerini, Casey Sewle and Ryan VanHorn. Dear sister of Esperanza Criscuolo of FL, Michael T. Michael of Brighton and the late Anise Vasi and Ernest Michael. Dear aunt of the Maloof, Michael, Khalil, Elias and Connolly families.

Florence's Funeral Service was held November 14, 2013 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church 55 Emmonsdale Rd. WEST ROXBURY.
