Obituary

David A. Griffin, 73, a lifelong Danvers resident, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Janice (Perry) Griffin, with whom he shared fifty-one years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on July 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Eben and Doris (MacDonald) Griffin. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1958.
Dave operated the family dairy farm for many years. He was then employed at Morton International, and most recently in the Chair Car Division at Lyons Ambulance Service.
He served two terms as a selectman in Danvers, and at the time was the youngest selectman elected to the board. He was a member of the former Calvary Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, and was a member of Amity Lodge. He loved spending time with family, gardening, bird watching, and vacations at the lake.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three daughters, Laurie Carver of Wethersfield, VT, Linda Griffin and her partner Pam Morose of Danvers, Vickie O’Leary and her husband Timothy of Millbury, a son, David Scott Griffin and his wife Nicole of Beverly, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dennis and Nathan Griffin, a sister, Nathalie Spear, and a son-in-law, John Carver.
His Funeral Service will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10AM in All Saints Episcopal Church, corner of Cherry & Holten Sts., Danvers. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O.
