Marie V. (Ciampa) Gosnell, age 70, a 36-year resident of Winchester, died on Oct. 12, 2013. She was the beloved wife for 44 years of Thomas J. Gosnell and the loving mother of Thomas B. Gosnell of Las Vegas, NV. Sister of Edward Ciampa of Las Vegas and Daniel Ciampa of Boston. Aunt of Anthony Ciampa and Devon Ciampa. She has many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins living throughout the country.
Marie was born in Boston, graduated from Girls’ Latin School, Boston State College, and Clark University. She was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Winchester since 1978 and served on the vestry and many committees. She loved gardening, tennis, the opera, books, and travel. She visited friends and family in Italy, Belgium, France, South Africa, Hawaii, and California. In 2012, she had a wonderful trip to Turkey. Marie taught social studies for 36 years at Medford High School and Roberts Junior High. She introduced to the high school a national curriculum based on the U.S. Constitution. Her classes regularly participated in statewide competitions.
She was active in the Medford Teachers’ Association. A Funeral Service will be held on Thurs., Oct. 17 at 11:30 AM in the Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church St., Winchester, MA 01890. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
