Obituary

NATICK: Patrick Thomas Sibley, age 21, died on Sunday, August 18, 2013, following injuries sustained in an accident. He was the abundantly-loved son of Shaun S. and Diane (Fair) Sibley of Natick, and Erin L. (Rice) Hagen of Valley Center, CA.

Born in Arlington, VA, Patrick spent his early years in California and moved to Natick in 2004. He was a 2010 graduate of Natick High School where he was a standout volleyball player, and was part of the 2007 State Championship team. He continued to excel at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut and George Mason University in Virginia.

Known as much for his outgoing and bright personality as for his athletic accomplishments, Patrick had an infectious smile, a sensitive and loving heart, and was known for his great hugs. He was fun-loving, but serious in his undertakings. Patrick was happiest when with his family, friends, and teammates, and will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved him. Patrick’s friends treasure his great loyalty, and the countless ways he touched their lives.

Patrick’s coaches say his dedication and work ethic on the court inspired his teammates. His favorite year on the volleyball court was this past year, when he played on the same team at George Mason with his older brother Shaun. In addition to volleyball, Patrick enjoyed working out - incessantly, basketball, golf, fishing, and the New England Patriots. He also had a passion for burritos at Anna’s, making hearty breakfasts, and cookouts with his adoring family, Patrick especially loved friendly but competitive games of touch football in his front yard with his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Shaun S. Sibley, Jr. of Fairfax, VA, Scott L. Sibley of Valley Center, CA, and David C. Rudloff of Natick; a sister, Amanda L. Hagen of Valley Center, CA; his grandparents, Diane Rice and William Rice, Jr. of Valley Center, CA, Thelma M. Sibley of Marlborough, and Doris P. Fair of Natick; great-grandparents, Herbert A. and Alice Dockham of Escondito, CA; aunts and uncles, Mike Sibley of Marlborough, Jim Sibley and his wife Nancy of Holliston, Bobby Sibley and his wife Amy of Northborough, William T.
