NATICK: Domenic R. Cucinotta, Sr., age 92, a lifelong Natick resident, died peacefully after a long illness on Monday night, July 22, 2013. He was the devoted husband of the late Joan (Tranter) Guigli Cucinotta who died January 31, 2012.
Born in Newton, Domenic was a son of the late Santo and Georgina Cucinotta. A graduate of Natick High School, Domenic continued his education at the Suffolk School of Law. He left Suffolk when his was help was needed at the Cucinotta family’s farm, greenhouses, and Natick Market, all located on Bacon Street in Natick.
Domenic settled in a home on the property, married and started a family. He started Dom’s Florist next door to his residence and operated the business until he sold it in 1963. He worked for a number of years at Harry Quint Florist in Newton and in 1980 joined the staff at his son Tony’s business, Bee Hive Floral in Norwood. Domenic continued to work part time with Tony until his health failed.
He is survived by three sons, Sam R. and his wife Joyce of Bellingham, Tony and his wife Amy of Norwood, and Domenic Jr. and his wife Debbie of Milford; a daughter, Jeanne Henwright and her husband Jack of Centerville; eight grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey, Leslie, Jacki, Shawn, Lauren, Melissa, and John; five great-grandchildren, Chase, Drew, Sam, Sawyer, and Liam; and his former wife and friend, Gloria (Zodda) Rocha of Centerville.
A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 39 East Central Street, Natick, on Wednesday, August 28th at 11:00a.m. Burial will be private.
