Port St. John, FL: Warren O. Brodie, 97, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at his daughter’s home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Rosetta M. (Lambert) Brodie.
Born in Groveland on June 12, 1916, he was the son of the late Frank and Blanche (Magneson) Brodie. He was a resident of Groveland for most of his life until he relocated to Florida in 1998. Warren was a graduate of Groveland High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1945. While serving our country during World War II, Warren became a Staff Sergeant in Company H 164th Infantry and because of his brave and heroic actions he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was a member of the Groveland VFW and a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church.
Warren was the former owner of Brodie Shoe Repair that was located on White Street in Haverhill for many years. He had a passion for golf whether he was playing or just watching it on television and also was an avid reader who especially liked books about history. Warren can be remembered as a father that was always available for his children around the clock. The depth of his love and caring for them will be forever in their hearts.
He is survived by his three loving children, Peter Brodie and his wife, Muriel of Pelham, NH, Stephen Brodie and his wife, Anne of Groveland and Patricia A. (Brodie) Barhanys of Port St. John, FL; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Mary Jean Brodie Davis; a sister, Lucy Carter and his granddaughter, Beth Ann Brodie.
A funeral Mass for Warren will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in St. Patrick’s Church in Groveland at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street in Bradford from 5 – 7 P.M. The Brodie Family welcomes you to attend. Interment will be held in the Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Warren’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
