Obituary

Roger A.Fontenault, 87, formerly of Stirling Drive, died peacefully at his home, Monday, June 17, 2013. He was the husband of the late Beatrice F. (Labrosse) Fontenault and Claire M. (Vezina) Fontenault.
Born in Blackstone, MA, he was a son of the late Aldor and Cecile (Girard) Fontenualt.
Mr. Fontenault was a Navy veteran of WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal in 1945 for injuries heh sustained while participating in the invasion of the coast of France. He was a longtime Eucharistic Minister at St. Philip Church, a member of the Third Order of Franciscans, one of the founding members of the ARC of RI and a member of the ProLife group at St. Philip Church. He retired from the former Brown & Sharp Company where he worked for 37 years. He later worked at the Harmony Post Office for 10 years.
Roger was a strong man of faith and family, a faith that reflected in all he did. He was there for anyone in need, and was respected by all who knew him. In his last days when memory was failing, he could still recite the words of prayers and sing along to songs from years past. He didn’t just believe in unconditional love, he lived it.
He is survived by his sons: Roger E. of Issue, MD, Ronald J. of Smithfield, Normand A. of Smithfield, Raymond L. of Foster, and Robert A. Fontenault of Sterling, CT; 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; his siblings, Raymond F. Fontenault of Burrillville, Gertrude Brissette of North Smithfield, Marcel Fontenault of Florida, Jeanette Richer of Woonsocket, Aldor Fontenault of CT and Frances Fullan of Burrillville. He was the father of the late Marie Ann Fontenault and brother of the late Pauline Lapiere.
Funeral Thursday at 8:30 AM from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Avenue, Greenville. Burial with military honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday 4-7.
