Richard A. Laforest Sr. 68, of Second Ave. died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Katherine (Thompson) Laforest. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Walter and Marie Anne (Rainville) Laforest. Richard was a maintenance mechanic for the City of Woonsocket for over ten years before retiring. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier, he loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bingo player.
He is survived by his children, Diane Laforest of NC, Judith Paquin of Blackstone, Richard A. Laforest Jr. of Smithfield, Shawn Laforest of Ellington, CT, and David Laforest of Woonsocket, a brother Raymond “Jimmy” Laforest of Woonsocket, two sisters Linda Gouin of Woonsocket and Lucille Perry of Cumberland, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Robert and Joseph Laforest, Helen Therien, Claire Couture, and Sandra Therien.
Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 in his memory would be appreciated.
