Edward A. Mariani, 83, of Walnut Hill Rd. died October 3rd at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Anna Jean (Vona) Mariani. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Gaetano and Francesca (Santilli) Mariani. Edward was a meat cutter for Quinn Meat Packing Co. for over twenty years before retiring in the late seventies. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Edward was an avid cribbage player.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Wachta and her husband Jamey of Attleboro, and Diane Mariani of Woonsocket, a sister Lillian Ascenzi of Johnston, and granddaughter Elizabeth Wachta, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Hilda, Ralph, Domenico, Salvatore, and Salino Mariani.
His funeral will be held Tuesday with visitation from 8:30 -10:00 AM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd. East Providence, RI 02914 in his memory would be appreciated.
