Obituary

John G. Wicks Jr. longtime Sherborn resident passed away September 5th after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty ”(Wry) Wicks, and the father of Ainslee Wicks of Sherborn, Christopher Wicks and his wife Judith of Lakeville, and Grandfather of Cameron Wicks and his wife Andrea of Lansdale, PA. He was the brother of the late Alvin M. Wicks and Lois W Campbell and Uncle of several nieces and nephews.

John was born in Cambridge MA on July 2, 1931 and moved to New Brunswick, Canada when he was 6. Following his return to the United States after graduating from high school he served proudly in the Army during the Korean conflict where he was a sergeant in the 25th infantry “lightning” division. He graduated from Babson College in 1957 and was an accountant for several local companies before he retired. He was also a personal tax preparer and notary public.

John was a faithful member of Fisk United Methodist Church in Natick for nearly 60 years, where he served on many boards and Committee and was an avid member of the men's club. He was a founding member and served on the board of directors of Face Day Care center. John was a commissioner of the Sherborn Little League, as well as a coach where his team won a championship. John enjoyed all sports especially baseball and was ecstatic when the Red Sox won the won the World Series. He also liked to bowl play cards, do crossword puzzles, and go out to dinner with friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of John’s life on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick. The Wicks family will receive visitors for 2 hours prior to the service.
