Obituary

Arthur E. Donley, of Norwell, formerly of West Roxbury passed away on May 29, 2012. He was 83 years old.

Arthur was born on June 14, 1928. He was raised on a farm in Wheeling, West Virginia. Like many who grew up during the depression, he and his family had little, and made do with whatever they had. Arthur remembers those times as very special; “we were all in the same boat and didn’t know what we were missing. We were all happy and just enjoyed each day." Arthur took that deep appreciation for each day and carried it throughout his life. He was known for his positive attitude, gregarious nature, and kindheartedness towards others. It was that enthusiasm for life that took Arthur on his journey of success.

Arthur bought James L. Miniter Insurance Agency in 1965. Through his vision, he steered the agency into a specialty company currently known as Miniter Group. It was his strong leadership, visionary ideas, and courage that expanded Miniter Group to the successful company it is today. Arthur was known for his honesty and integrity and is described as a true gentleman by all who knew him. His family is very proud of his many accomplishments and generosity.
He provided for others and countless individuals and charities have been the recipients of his benevolence.

While Arthur truly enjoyed his work over the years, he was a devoted family man. His life’s work was driven by his love for his family, who returned this love unconditionally. Arthur and his wife Marion were married for 58 years. They proudly raised a very close and loving family: his children John, Kathleen Finn, Janet LaPointe, Julianne Gilpin and Diane Moore; sons-in-law Frank Finn, Daniel LaPointe, Jim Gilpin; and John Moore; and 7 grandchildren Kevin Finn and wife Michelle, Katie Finn; Kelly, Sarah and Danielle LaPointe; Jacqueline and Arthur James Gilpin and great grandson Cashton Beckett Finn. Arthur (Dad, Pampa) will be truly missed; his legacy will live on in all of us.

Arthur was a veteran of the Korean War, born on Flag Day and married on the 4th of July. He would have been 84 years of age this June.
