Marion L. Tomberlin, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. David Fisher, the Rev. Joe Vaughn and the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Tomberlin was born February 19, 1946 in Ocilla to the late Joe Tomberlin and the late Lillian Griffin Tomberlin. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life and was a former resident of Winter Haven, Florida. Mr. Tomberlin was employed with Sunny Dale Service Center where he worked on the lawn maintenance crew. He participated in the Special Olympics, local area and state level and loved swimming and trips to the beach. He was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
He is survived by a sister, Betty Jo Tomberlin of Fitzgerald; aunts and an uncle, Laura Tomberlin, Louise Selph, Willis Tomberlin and Juanita Tomberlin; several cousins including, Patsy Tomberlin and Robert & Vanessa Tomberlin; special caregivers, Ann Giddens, Margaret McCall, Joyce Robinson, Cathy Bowman and all his special friends and staff at the Sunny Dale Service Center. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Solomon, Jr.
