New Bedford- Antonio R. Pereira age 76 years, passed away on Thursday June 2nd at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Ferreira) Pereira of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Anthony husband of Paula Pereira of Fairhaven and Maria Pereira-Botas wife of Wayne of New Bedford. Antonio was the grandfather of Nathan Pereira and Kristen Botas. Mr. Pereira was the godfather of Manny husband of Goretti Pereira of New Bedford. He was the great uncle of Danny and Kevin Pereira. He was the brother of Ana Melo and Fatima Carreiro both of the Azores, Maria Melo of California, and the late Manuel Pereira, Angelo Pereira and Jose Pereira. He was the brother in law of Cecilia Pereira of Azores. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews
Mr. Pereira was a son the late Rosa A. (deMelo) and Manuel R. Pereira. He was born in Pico, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area for the last 30 years. He was formerly employed at Shawmut Mills in East Bridgewater
Mr. Pereira’s funeral will be Monday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday evening from 5-7 P.M.
