Mrs. Sarah "Sally" Iavelo, age 89 of Burlington died Friday in the Woburn Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Iavelo.
Mrs. Iavelo was born in Boston, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Mazzarella) Caruso. A graduate of Medford High School, class of 1938 she worked as a salesperson for the former Jordan Marsh Department store chain and later when it became Macy”s. She worked there for 57 years, retiring in 2000. She was an active person and loved shopping. She was involved with the Burlington Senior Citizen group. She was also a participant and communicant in St. Malachy parish in Burlington. She is survived by a brother Joseph Caruso and his wife Rosemarie of NH, Lillian Maietta and her husband William of FL. Beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Vincent Caruso and Rachel Green. Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, on Wednesday at 10 am. Funeral mass in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford Street, Burlington at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 thru 8
