Obituary


Charles R. Roth, 91, longtime resident of Whitman passed away on Sunday August 29th, surrounded by his family, after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Dorothea (Martin) Roth.

Charlie was born in Methuen, son of the late Robert and Lillian (Walters) Roth.

He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

Charlie taught science at the Brockton High School for 27 years, before retiring. After retirement he mowed lawns and refinished furniture and gardening.

He was an active member of the Whitman Congregational Church, member of the tri-town masons for over 50 years and he was also the Past Master of the lodge, also a member of the Whitman VFW and the Shriner. Charlie collected cans to raise money for the Shriner’s.

In addition to his wife Dorothea, he is survived by his son David Roth and his wife Yvonne of Taunton, his daughter Sabra A. Roth of Las Vegas, grandfather of Kristin, Kayla and Julie.

His services will be held on Thursday September 2nd at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Wednesday September 1st from 7:00-9:00.There will be a Masonic service held at 7:00PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Puritan Lodge, C/O Stanley Peterson, 186 Franklin St., Whitman, MA 02382or the Whitman Congregational Church, 519 Washington St., Whitman, MA 02382
