Fallon P. Finegan, 16, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis, on Monday August 23, 2010 at Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Born in Quincy, MA on December 19, 19993 she was a loving daughter of James F., Sr. and Diane M. (Cotter) Finegan of Mansfield.
Fallon grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was preparing to enter her junior year with the class of 2012 at Mansfield High School.
An avid sports enthusiast, “Fal” was a member of the soccer and basketball teams at Mansfield High School and while a student at Qualters Middle School in Mansfield was president of her eight grade class.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Fallon was an active participant of the Relay for Life in Mansfield and enjoyed volunteering her time to help others with Cystic Fibrosis.
Being a typical teenager, “Fal” loved to socialize with friends. She will always be remembered for her zest for life and the way she could light up a room with her presence. Fallon also enjoyed the summers spent in Dennisport with family and friends and held a special place in her heart for her dog Tucker.
In addition to her loving parents, she was the devoted sister of James F. Finegan, Jr. and Katherine M. Finegan both of Mansfield. She was the cherished paternal granddaughter of Francis J. Finegan of Brockton and the late Doris T. (Boland) Finegan and the maternal granddaughter of the late John C. and Kathleen P. (Fallon) Cotter. Fallon is also survived by her many adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday August 27th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 26th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Fallon’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Hearts For Hope Foundation 18 Bragg Road Foxboro, MA 02035, to establish a scholarship in her memory.
